How does Čarolija darivanja BiH work?

From one child's wish to one sincere smile – a path we create together.

Prevod – treba provjeriti.

For nine years now, Čarolija darivanja BiH has been connecting children who particularly need attention and support with people who want to do something nice for them.

The way we work is based on a simple idea: to help children's wishes find their way to the people who want to fulfil them, with mutual trust, responsibility and transparency.

Although behind every fulfilled wish there is a great deal of care, effort and good will, we try to make the giving process itself as simple as possible.

1. How do we receive children's wishes?

Čarolija works with children's homes, institutions and organisations that support children without adequate parental care, children from families facing difficult financial circumstances, and children with developmental disabilities.

In cooperation with the responsible staff of these institutions and organisations, we collect children's wishes, taking into account the age, interests and individual needs of each child.

Our goal is not to draw up lists of what we consider necessary, but to enable children, in line with their abilities and circumstances, to express their own wishes.

Because that is the very essence of Čarolija – that a child is heard and that their wish matters.

2. Publishing children's wishes

Once we have collected the wishes, we publish them through our communication channels so that they are available to interested donors.

Every published wish is an opportunity for someone to become part of a beautiful child's story.

When publishing, we take care to protect the children's privacy and are careful about the information we share with the public.

We want donors to have enough information to choose a suitable gift, while at the same time preserving the dignity and privacy of every child.

3. Choosing a child's wish

Anyone who wants to take part in Čarolija can choose a child's wish they would like to fulfil, in line with their means.

It does not matter whether it is a book, a toy, new trainers, a winter jacket, a bicycle or some other gift.

What matters is that the chosen wish is fulfilled with care and responsibility.

Some wishes require a greater financial expense. In such situations, when possible, several donors can join together to make one wish come true.

At Čarolija, we do not measure the value of giving by the price of the gift, but by the care and the sincere wish to brighten someone's day.

4. Choosing a child's wish and its status

On our website, donors will be able to browse the published children's wishes and choose the one they want to fulfil.

Each wish will have a clearly marked status so that visitors can see which wishes are still available and which someone has already taken.

Three labels are planned:

Available – the child's wish has not been taken yet and is waiting for its donor.

In progress – a donor has chosen the wish and is preparing to fulfil it. The wish is no longer available to other donors.

Completed – the giving has been marked as done, based on the available information about the sending or fulfilment of the wish.

In this way, we try to avoid the same wish being taken more than once and to provide a clear overview of the giving process.

It is especially important to us that everyone who chooses a child's wish understands the responsibility that such a decision carries.

Because behind every published wish there is a child looking forward to it being fulfilled.

If, for any reason, a donor is unable to fulfil a wish they have taken, it is important that they let us know in good time so that we can make it available again.

Withdrawing is no reason for judgement, but timely communication can prevent a child's disappointment.

5. Buying and sending the gift

One of the basic rules of Čarolija darivanja BiH is that children are given only new things.

The donor buys the chosen gift themselves and sends it directly to the address of the institution or another previously agreed recipient.

Čarolija darivanja BiH does not act as an intermediary in buying gifts, but as a link between children's wishes and the people who want to fulfil them.

In this way, we try to ensure a simple and transparent giving process.

The gift should match the wish the child expressed, respecting any agreed details such as size, colour or other important characteristics.

Because what makes a child happiest is not only the fact that they received a gift, but also the feeling that someone carefully listened to their very own wish.

6. Following up on giving and communication

Since gifts are sent directly to institutions or other agreed recipients, Čarolija darivanja BiH is not physically involved in their delivery.

Following up on the fulfilment of children's wishes is based on communication with donors and with the institutions we work with.

We do not receive individual confirmations that each gift has arrived. Donors sometimes get in touch with us themselves after sending, while institutions most often contact us when a particular gift has not arrived or a difficulty arises.

In such situations, we try to look into the circumstances and, together with the parties involved, find a suitable solution.

That is why responsible and timely communication is especially important to us.

Our goal is not only to connect a donor with a child's wish, but also, within our means, to help make sure that the promises made are kept.

The trust we have been building for years rests on the responsibility of all of us who take part in Čarolija.

7. Why are responsibility and trust so important to us?

Čarolija darivanja BiH is built on voluntariness, trust and togetherness.

There are no compulsory membership fees, nor is it necessary to set aside a certain amount of money to become part of our community.

Everyone takes part as much as they can and when they can.

But when someone decides to take on a child's wish, that decision takes on a special meaning.

For an adult, it may be one of many tasks in everyday life. For a child, it can be an event they look forward to for days or weeks.

That is why we believe that responsibility towards a wish you have taken on is one of the most important forms of respect for a child.

8. Čarolija is open to all people of good will

To take part in Čarolija, it does not matter where you live, how old you are or what you do.

Our donors come from Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also from different parts of the world.

Someone may fulfil one wish a year, someone several, and someone may help by sharing posts, making connections with institutions or providing support with organisation.

Every form of sincere and responsible help has its own value.

Because Čarolija is not made only of gifts.

It is made of people who believe that kindness, care and acting together can create more beautiful moments in children's lives.

One wish can change someone's day

Perhaps we cannot fulfil all children's wishes.

Perhaps we cannot change the circumstances in which every child grows up.

But we can do something that is within our power.

We can listen to one wish. We can set aside a little time. We can send a gift and show one child that there are people who think of them.

Because creating Čarolija does not take magical powers. All it takes is people ready to do something good.

Choose a wish. Give a smile. Become part of Čarolija. ❤️
